Are You Being Perverse, Big G?

Posted in Chats With Big G with tags , , , , , , on May 23, 2011 by AF

I can imagine you laughed your butt off at those poor souls who had 21st May 2011 marked up as the end of things on our little planet – I mean, most of us here did – but did you miss a trick? Okay, so you and I have endlessly done the “I don’t believe in you, but I doubt you could care less” thing and, yet again here I am talking to this (to me) imaginary being who I don’t believe in. Yet, if you are real, would it have hurt your pride soo-oooo much just to back up these dipsticks who were going on about the rapture and all – at least just a little?

You didn’t have to end it all like the crazies claimed – yet again – but we could have seen a couple of the best good guys (or gals) floating skyward on the 21st, couldn’t we? I’m not exactly questioning your judgement, but it seems a bit unfair of you to me. According to the pundits – you know, the clergy and all – you made man in your own image. Well, if that’s so and with you being omnipotent and all that as well, you ought to find it real easy to think like a human (in so far as we do think at all, that is). Just a smidgen of evidence would be nice – a gesture at least that you understand us.

Now I know it’s always said that we have to take everything about you on trust – have faith as they insist on calling it. Well, that’s all well and good, but you’ve seen how that attitude works out with politicians, salesmen, relationship partners and lots of others – doctors even – so, “taking things on trust” now (quite rightly, if you don’t mind me saying so) kind of equates to being downright gullible! Don’t blame me! You gave us free will, supposedly. So I don’t see how you can be upset if we question things that look pretty darned unlikely to us.

I guess, on reflection, it would have been a bit of a stretch to ask for the odd candidate to be headed for the rapture they were going on about at such length, but there was nothing – well, that’s nothing apart from Iceland’s volcano playing up again, but that’s not new, is it? There weren’t even a few significant earthquakes that I heard about!

Of course, I imagine their abject failure this time won’t stop the “End Is Nigh” bunch from coming back on the next date some jerk calculates is going to be the apocalypse – they always do, time after time, and being wrong never seems to phase them in the least, but endlessly repeating the same damned thing in the vain hope of a different result is one of the definitions of madness, isn’t it? Couldn’t you either back these guys up a touch, or just put us all out of their misery by sending a few well placed lightning bolts to shut them up permanently?

Please… Aw… go on… Pretty please?

Cheers. Thanks for listening (if you did).

You Owe It To Yourself

This post over at the Mudflats begins innocuously enough…

“On my 21st birthday, I woke up in the morning and drove to Dairy Queen.  I got soft serve vanilla ice cream with strawberry topping and I ate it for breakfast.  Why?  When I was a child I asked once if I could have ice cream for breakfast, and my mother said, “You can have ice cream for breakfast when you’re 21.”  And so I did.”

But if you want to put some of the anger and hateful behaviour going on in America at the moment into perspective, then you owe it to yourself to take a few moments to read this post in full.

What Is It With These People?

Posted in People, Society and Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 20, 2009 by AF

I’m not American, so I tend to say little about US politics unless I feel it affects the rest of us and UK politicians just make me feel ill, so I don’t mention them much either. But there are times when I wonder just what this planet is coming to.

It’s a bit like when bureaucrats (oh, how I loathe some of them) get all officious in what is clearly simply an attempt to increase their own sense of self importance and in fact justify their own existence. But in this instance a small but significant number of apparently small-minded US citizens are playing constitutional Russian Roulette with their whole country – and that could affect the rest of us.

It may well be that President Obama is playing an astute political game of chess over his healthcare proposals and that what he finally expects to get is not what’s most obviously on the table at the moment. Furthermore, I think his policies are misguided in as much as, desirable though his ideas are in theory, reality rarely matches anything close to theory when any service at all is run directly by government. Basically, healthcare almost everywhere in the industrialised world requires a huge rethink, because most of us simply can’t afford to support a system that offers the sort of healthcare that is daily becoming more sophisticated and vastly more expensive.

Nevertheless, I really can’t see why seasoned politicians and activists (mainly on the right of the Republican Party) would even consider, let alone condone, the evil “rent-a-mob” actions that are clearly taking place at meetings designed to explain the proposals to (and discuss them with) ordinary people across America. What is the point of spreading the lies, filth and half truths that these people are using to cloud the issues they so violently disagree with? What happened to reasoned argument and sensible discussion? Furthermore, I find it absolutely disgusting that TV channels can buy into this vile behaviour in the manner that Fox News apparently is according to so many rational sounding posts on the Internet. Using the power of TV to spread that sort of hatred is entirely anti-democratic and, to me, totally abhorrent.

I think the worst thing about it all, though, is how far these people plainly are removed from reality. I can understand that things that I don’t give damn about are vitally important to others – that’s their right and mine too and they have a democratic right to hold their views and express them.

But politicians buying into this crap? Now that’s something else entirely and it shows a really frightening lack of understanding and caring for the good of the country. Such people can only be seen as chasing fringe votes – the votes of the nasty, bigoted minority who would brook no opinion other than the disgustingly vile opinions that they hold and wish to see forced onto all of us by any means they can achieve. That way lies pure dictatorship!

The right wing of the Republican Party does this time and again. They hounded Bill Clinton over Monica Lewinsky to the tune of millions of public dollars spent on a matter that, though possibly bureaucratically important, was entirely trivial to most Americans – which was proved when they re-elected him and showed quite clearly that they didn’t actually give a sh*t about his love life, or the spiteful values of the nut-jobs! More importantly, it all wasted an enormous amount of valuable time for themselves, their party, the presidency, the legislature and it severely damaged US standing in the world along with the wellbeing of the country and its citizens. Ultimately, because of America’s size, that affected all of us.

And now we have the Obama birth certificate thing…

Do most normal Americans actually give a toss? NO! Absolutely NOT! The fact is that a majority of the electorate voted him, the man they saw and connected with, into office and whether some ancient bit of paper may or may not have made him strictly eligible in bureaucratic terms is almost totally irrelevant now. The people wanted him, not even necessarily because they seriously expected he would be the Superman they hoped, but simply because he was a better bet than the sh*t that the Republicans put up as an alternative!

Republicans (and at heart I probably am more or less Republican in my outlook) get real! Wake up and smell the coffee! Instead of bogging yourselves and everyone else down in this mire of nonsensical crap, you need to work on getting the right people and the right policies in place for the next election, right now (note what happened to the Tories in the UK and the misery that has created for the Brits). Get rid of the wing-nuts! America – heck, the world – cannot afford for you to suffer such abject failure and obscurity as you are heading for at this moment!

Just for once, think of the people – think of your country first! All of it!

Sex Is Still Important

Posted in People, Society and Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 9, 2009 by AF

It seems that we apparently have a number of leaders and icons who have relatively normal sexual appetites – well, that at least is a relief!

A lot of women and a huge number of men seem to think that being committed to one person automatically destroys natural libido, or should. What a daft idea! Well, I’ve got news for you guys (that’s an asexual ‘guys’): if it did, your sex life would be the first casualty!

Now I just know I’m going to get all sorts of shit over this (or it’ll get ignored altogether), but all the scientific research available tells us quite clearly that monogamy is not a natural condition for most people, or indeed for the vast majority of the animal kingdom – male and female alike! Promiscuity is the natural order of things. I’m not saying here that we should necessarily act on that objective, but it is just plain natural and ordinary!

Nice Ass!If a person is ‘normal’ then, just because they hooked up with a partner and probably promised fidelity as part of that deal, it doesn’t change their basic sexuality one jot. They might kid themselves (or even wish) that it will, but it won’t. Sure, when chasing courting a prospective mate, particularly for more than just casual sex, a man or a woman will usually develop ‘tunnel vision’ and only have eyes for that target. Furthermore, they might well (hopefully will, if that’s what they both want) stick to those promises, but it won’t change a thing about their natural sexual instincts – and they are continuously telling them to notice and ‘fancy’ other members of their preferred gender.

Nice Ass! If Victoria Would Only EAT!So, in my opinion: ladies, when your husband looks at some hot chick and you can see the thought, “Nice ass!” written all over his face, don’t get all uptight because it’s simply proof that he may be married, but thank God he’s not actually dead and it’s simply a compliment to you that it’s still you he wants to go home with and bed. Equally, you jealous jerk of a husband, just because your wife looks at the hunk on the beach, or flirts a little with some personal trainer or other, just smile to yourself and enjoy the stirring up of her libido that will make her hot for you later when you’re alone together – if you’re a bit sensitive for a change and play your cards right, of course!

I don’t dispute for one moment that we should all learn to only act appropriately and not to automatically follow our every urge – society simply can’t (and hopefully won’t) accept that and quite right too. You can change the way people react and behave by proper education that teaches caring, consideration for others, honesty and understanding. But you cannot suppress anyone’s basic instincts except by indoctrination, or to give it a more appropriate title: brainwashing! If you were to succeed in suppressing our natural urges in that way, then the human race would die out, because it is that basic sex drive that has so far made us one of the most successful animals on the planet. Anyone who preaches otherwise is, in my view, either misguided, or just a complete tosser.

Nice Everything! And lastly, and I know it’s slightly off this topic, but it demonstrates the point because my reaction to this is simply, “Hot, or what!” and that’s because I’m what I’ve been talking about – normal. It’s also proof of what I commented about in my previous post – that age is just a number … HOW old? But then I always did fancy thirty plus year old women who were ‘fit’ (in all the senses applied to the word), even when I was seventeen…

Vegetarians’ Outrage

Posted in Miscellaneous with tags , , , , , , , on August 5, 2009 by AF

Apparently, according to the UK Daily Mail, vegetarians are up in arms about the fact that supermarket giant Tesco is sending 5000 tons of meat a year to be burnt because it is to be used to produce electricity. Not the waste, the use!

Their article says…

“Consumers should be informed if any of their home electricity is being generated using the ‘macabre’ recycling of waste meat from supermarkets, campaigners said today.

Tesco now sends 5,000 tons of meat that has passed its sell-by date to be turned into enough National Grid electricity to power 600 homes for a year.

The retail giant has hailed the scheme as part of a ‘green’ drive which had enabled it to stop sending any of the waste it produces to environmentally damaging landfill sites.”   (full story here)

What is the matter with these people? I might not want to eat meat; I might not want to use or promote goods made from animal products; but if I were a vegetarian, I can’t see how that would give me the right to tell Tesco what to do with all the disgusting amount of waste produced by our utterly ridiculous sell-by date system. Most of the food that is scrapped is perfectly good, but our litigation and health and safety conscious culture now means that most companies are forced to add in a safety factor of several hundred percent.

Tesco’s action seems to me to be the least stupid thing the UK has done in a long time.

What’s all that all about? What a shambles our society has become!

There was a time…

Either I’m getting old a lot faster than I thought, or large parts of humanity is in a tail spin that can surely only lead it to crash and burn.

I remember when, once upon a time, I used to sometimes think, “Maybe I’m losing the plot!”

Now I think, “Plot? What plot? There’s a PLOT?”

This from the UK Daily Mail…

A mother has been banned from a primary school after confronting a bully who used her five-year- old son as a ‘human punch bag’.

Christine Hart, 38, calmly asked the pupil to ‘please stop hitting’ her son Arthur after he endured months of bullying despite several complaints to teachers.

But a teaching assistant saw and hauled her off to the headmistress, who told her not to cross the school gates and to attend a hearing with the governors to discuss her conduct.

…says it all!

Really … I want to know … is it me that’s going nuts?

All The Advice In The World

Posted in Miscellaneous with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 13, 2009 by AF

It’s all out there – for women in particular – everything you need to become the perfect person, have an ecstatically happy and incredibly long life, full of love whilst you remain young and beautiful forever.

All you have to do is to follow these principles, or worship at that church, or believe in a particular mysticism, or take some potion and of course also use their incredibly expensive herbal cream, or whatever else it is that these people are selling, or want you to believe in – so they can make a huge profit.

I am your guru and you need my guidance and products to achieve enlightened fulfilment. It’s all in my new book and DVD!

Yeah! Right! If you believe that crap, then you’re more gullible that I thought you were, honey!

If you want a full and happy life then the first thing you have to do is to get one – a life that is! A life that is yours and not someone else’s and you have to do it!

Of course, this could apply to anyone – male or female – but it’s particularly common and incredibly easy for women slip into a rut where they spend all their time caring and working for their children, husband/partner, extended family, or whatever and forget that they once had a life of their own – things that were important and mattered just to them and no one else.

Then, twenty years down the line they’re totally heartbroken when their significant other ups and runs off with a new, usually younger, babe who doesn’t have to give a damn about any of those things and is a person in her own right. Why do they do that? Simple! It’s because the new woman still has a mind of her own and is interesting, takes care of herself, is not predictable or always there like part of the furniture – and therefore she’s sexy and exciting to be with (and screw, of course).

This is your life, girl. As far as you know it’s the only one you’ll have. Live it!
